In an interconnect, an Ethernet connection may require multiple wires for fast 100 Mbps Ethernet, or even Gbps Ethernet wires. Complex, expensive, and can not ensure that the information collected by sensors can be exchanged in time. These disadvantages do not meet the expectations of industrial interconnection. Single pair Ethernet technology is a technology that can achieve 1Gb/s connection speed in a short distance and conduct two-way communication. At first, this connection technology was widely used in automobiles. According to the transmission standard of IEEE 802.3, the single pair Ethernet technology has been integrated into the new generation of automobiles and replaced CAN and other bus systems. This technology can centralize control, communication and various other security functions to operate on the Ethernet, which is just what industrial automation interconnection needs. The most direct driving factor for the introduction of single pair Ethernet in industrial scenarios is to meet the requirements of applications for efficient two-way communication. The 1Gb/s connection speed enables the two-way communication to realize the real-time secure connection from equipment to infrastructure and equipment to cloud. Not to mention the cost and ease of use characteristics of single pair Ethernet, it is attractive enough to enhance the analysis of sensing data and speed up the response to error links.
The single pair Ethernet can reach the connection speed of 1Gb/s in a short distance. Its cable length can reach 1000M, and the transmission speed is 10Mb/s. The single pair Ethernet uses 600MHz bandwidth for data communication. Single pair Ethernet connection, one terminal is used for 1gbps/600MHz data transmission, and the other supports power transmission with current up to 8A. The mixed connection of data and power supply must be separated from the metal shield to avoid the interference between power signal and data signal.
Overall, this technology makes the overall size of the connector smaller and reduces the workload of many terminals. Single pair Ethernet reduces Ethernet to the sensor actuator level and connects the sensor actuator directly to the automation system or cloud, which is a great help for industrial interconnection.
