Hot demand for AI server products drove significant growth for PCB, HDI (high-density interconnect boards), and copper-clad substrate manufacturers in Taiwan, China. NVIDIA's enhancement of server specifications has led to a further increase in demand for PCB and HDI components, with the new specification products requiring more high-end HDI products to speed up computing and connectivity.
Taiwan Media said that the PCB and HDI industries in China's Taiwan region have seen a clear competitive advantage. TAYO's leading technology and the use of copper-clad substrates have led to the development of Taipower and Kinteam, while Kinteam, as one of the world's leading manufacturers of cloud servers, has seen growth in demand for its high-end products, such as 20-layer PCBs, which has led to a further increase in the company's gross margins.
As the world's third-largest HDI board supplier, KDDI has access to the future market for AI server products, even though it is not an industry leader. As Intel's "Eagle Stream" fourth-generation scalable processors begin to release volume, leading to growth in gross margins for high-end servers. In terms of revenue share, KDDI's main products accounted for 21.1% in servers/network communication, 29.6% in automotive, and 18.5% in DRAM/SSD. Despite the pressure on revenue in the first half of the year, the company's revenue is expected to rebound as de-stocking proceeds and new products are developed. Taiwan media said that Kenting, as a part of the AI server market, has a production capacity advantage and is at the top of its game in terms of technology. Customers are now validating products one after another, and new products are expected to contribute to revenue starting in the fourth quarter.
TAYO is actively embracing the business opportunity of upgrading server specifications. In the current CCL (Copper Clad Laminate) market, TAYO and TSMC are not to be ignored. Currently, most major PCB manufacturers have locked in Southeast Asia, where China and Taiwan companies such as Taidin, Jingpeng, and Jingguo have set up production bases in Thailand. At the same time, PCB upstream material manufacturers have also begun to layout, Lianmao, Taiwan Yew has also invested in Thailand to build factories. As for Taiwan Optoelectronics, it is still evaluating in Southeast Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and plans to actively expand overseas production lines.
The surge in demand for high-end copper foil substrate materials for AI servers led to a 2.85% YoY increase in TAYO's consolidated revenue in the second quarter. With the gradual increase in production of high-end products, revenue is expected to grow further next year. The expansion of TAYO's plant in mainland China has also been completed, and future performance is expected.
