STMicroelectronics Releases STM32 MCU GUI Design Software TouchGFX Version 4.20

STMicroelectronics (ST), a leading global semiconductor company serving multiple electronics applications, announced TouchGFX version 4.20, a graphical user interface design software for STM32 microcontrollers. The latest software update supports ST's new Neochrom graphics gas pedal. The new graphics gas pedal is integrated into STMicroelectronics' advanced microcontroller products, such as the STM32U5 family.
Neochrom, derived from ST's Chrom-ART Accelerator™ graphics acceleration technology, which handles pixels and shapes, supports full-screen rotation to any angle and texture mapping for smooth, fluid graphics and enhanced ease of use. TouchGFX enables our engineers to be more productive". With the on-chip integration of the Neochrom gas pedal, the latest STM32 microcontrollers dramatically improve embedded graphics performance, approaching the level of today's application processors for smartphones and tablets. On the other hand, the microcontrollers are more affordable, more energy efficient and more usable, running on simple operating systems such as FreeRTOS and Microsoft® Azure ThreadX, or even bare metal. Ricardo de-sa-Earp, executive vice president of the General Microcontroller Product Division, part of ST's Microcontroller and Digital Chip Products Group, added: "Now, TouchGFX 4.20 lets developers around the world unleash Neochrom's graphics in embedded systems with our new energy-efficient STM32 MCUs acceleration performance in embedded systems with our new power-efficient STM32 MCUs." TouchGFX 4.20 adds more important new features for developers, including support for importing and exporting custom widgets. The development environment includes the TouchGFXDesigner graphics development tool and the X-CUBE-TOUCHGFX embedded software, which also provides all the firmware needed to run the user interface on the target microcontroller. TouchGFX is all integrated within the STM32Cube MCU development ecosystem, providing a complete end-to-end workflow to simplify product design and reduce time-to-market.
