The International Trade Commission (USITC) recently said that regulatory authorities will investigate Samsung, Qualcomm and TSMC over certain semiconductor devices and integrated circuits (ICs), as well as mobile devices that use these components.
The USITC statement noted that last month it received a complaint from Daedalus Prime, which alleged that chips imported into the US and sold by TSMC, Samsung and Qualcomm, as well as mobile devices and components containing these chips, infringed its patents in violation of Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, and requested that the USITC issue an injunction and cease and desist order. The USITC was asked to issue an injunction and a cease and desist order.

The ITC said it voted to investigate semiconductors and chips manufactured by Samsung, TSMC and Qualcomm; no decision has yet been made on the merits of the case and the Chief Administrative Judge of the Commission will assign an Administrative Judge to schedule a hearing. A final decision on the investigation will be scheduled as soon as practicable and a closing period will be set within 45 days of the filing of the case.
