Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Devices Corporation ("Toshiba") today announced the release of the "SSM10N961L", a low on-resistance 30V N-channel common drain MOSFET for devices with USB and battery pack protection. The product is available for volume shipment today.
Until now, Toshiba's N-channel common-drain MOSFET lineup has focused on 12V products, mainly for smartphone lithium-ion battery pack protection, and the release of 30V products provides a wider range of options for applications with voltages higher than 12V, such as load switching for USB-charged devices' power supply circuits, and protection of lithium-ion battery packs for notebook PCs and tablet PCs. Two MOSFETs with low RDS(ON) are required to realize a bidirectional switch with low drain-source on-resistance (RDS(ON)), in either 3.3mmÍ3.3mm or 2mmÍ2mm sizes, and Toshiba's new product is available in a small, slim new package, the TCSPAG-341501 (3.37mmÍ1.47mm (typ.), thickness=0.11mm (typ.)), and also comes in a new package, the TCSPAG-341501 (3.37mmÍ1.47mm (typ.), thickness=0.11mm (typ.)). (3.37mmÍ1.47mm (typ.), thickness=0.11mm (typ.)), and a source-source on-resistance (RSS(ON)) with a resistance value of 9.9mΩ (typ.) in the single-package common drain structure. USB PD (USB Power Delivery) was developed specifically for devices that require high power supply, and can provide power from 15W (5V/3A) up to a maximum of 240W (48V/5A). USB PD has a role-switching function that supports interchangeability between the power supply side and the receiving side, requiring USB charging devices to be able to supply power in both directions to be able to support both power transmission and power reception. transmission and power reception at the same time. This new product is an N-channel common drain MOSFET that supports bi-directional power supply and has a small surface area. Combining this product with the driver ICs in Toshiba's TCK42xG series allows for the formation of load switch circuits with an anti-reflow function or power multiplexer circuits that can switch between MBB and BBM operation. Based on this product portfolio, Toshiba today announced a reference design for power supply multiplexer circuits (using common drain MOSFETs). The use of this reference design helps to shorten product design and development time. In the future, Toshiba will continue to expand its product line and improve features to increase design flexibility.
